The topic of non-traditional security is indeed topical and has the potential to attract much interest. As the editors themselves rightly point out in the introduction to this volume, since the end of the cold war, non-traditional security issues have achieved increasing prominence on the policy and research agendas of governments, NGOs, scholars, and international organizations. Unfortunately, although each individual chapter in this volume is commendable in its own right, the organization of the volume and the selection of the articles could have been better managed. Though it may seem too conventional, it would still have been a good idea perhaps to have a Part 1 containing articles dealing with the conceptual framework of non-traditional security, offering a historical analysis of the shifts in understanding and conceptualizing security, and giving a more general introduction to the current debates concerning non-traditional security issues and some of the dilemmas and contradictions
