Article: Transparency Talk

Transparency Talk

Transparency Talk

Today, we are opening the hood.

As the first step toward building an 'open book' business (no pun-intended!), we have published all our quarterly profit & loss statements as well every charitable donation received by Books Beyond Borders since our incorporation in 2018.

What does that mean?

That means anyone and everyone can now see our quarterly profit & loss statements on our website. You’ll find numbers like:

  • How much sales we’ve made
  • Every restricted donation we received
  • Cost of running the business (e.g. salaries, legal, website, travel etc.)
  • Amount of educational grants given (to our partners in rural Nepal)
  • etc.

Though our accounting protocols are not perfect at this stage given our limited resources, we are committed to continue learning the best practices, and live up to our value of defaulting to transparency.

Note that this is a work-in-progress, we will continue to refine our reporting process moving forward.

We’d also love to answer any clarifications or hear feedback — you can e-mail directly to randall@booksbeyondborders.org.
